Campus Outreach National Conference 101

The semester is winding down, and while students are preparing for final exams, Campus Outreach is preparing for its annual conference over Christmas break. But this year there’s a twist. CO regions from all over the country are coming to Chattanooga, TN to hold a national Campus Outreach event! Over 4,000 students are expected to attend.  Even though the actual conference is not until December 28, recruitment has already begun.  National Conference is a great way for students (and staff!) to understand more about God’s purpose for our lives and to experience true joy from Jesus.  It consists of large group meetings with big-name speakers like John Piper, Matt Chandler, and JD Greear, but also, there are smaller breakout seminars that allow students to understand more about specific topics (like discipleship, suffering, or prayer) that interest them.

While National Conference is a great time to get non-Christians to hear the Word of God, our staff and students are spending this week taking the Word of God to non-Christians to recruit for National Conference. Many of the students who we want to come to conference would not usually attend a “Christian conference.” God promises in Isaiah 55:11 that His Word “shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose.”  The power of God is in His Word, and it will never return empty. Therefore, students are learning how to share verses in the Bible with non-Christians through a conversation about National Conference. God uses verses like Matthew 6:33 (“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”) to speak to the hearts of non-Christians.

Please pray that God will use National Conference, or NatCon, to glorify Himself and bring students to greater knowledge of the truth of Jesus. Also, please pray that God will give our student leaders boldness to share the Word of God with others, and that non-Christians will hear the Word of God even before they get to the conference. We are all excited about this year’s National Conference in Chattanooga. Another reason to be excited for Christmas break!
